Privacy Policy

1. Where We Stand

MailCrypts was built around one idea: your inbox is yours. This policy lays out what information we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it protected while you use our encrypted email service. Because we run on zero-knowledge architecture, no one on our end can read your messages, not even us.

2. What We Actually Collect

Our zero-knowledge design blocks us from ever seeing the contents of your emails or attachments. That said, a few things do reach us:

  • Account details (email address, username)
  • Billing information (handled through a third-party payment processor)
  • Technical details (IP address, browser, device type)
  • Usage patterns (sign-in activity, which features you rely on)

3. What It's Used For

The information above helps us:

  • Keep the service running and available
  • Handle billing and send you account updates
  • Fix bugs and build out new features
  • Catch fraud or misuse early
  • Meet legal requirements where applicable

4. Keeping It Locked Down

Every message is locked behind AES-256 encryption before it ever leaves your device, and our zero-knowledge setup means we have no way to unlock it, court order or not. We also keep our servers in jurisdictions known for strong privacy protections.

5. When We Share Anything

Your personal information is never sold or rented out. There are only a few situations where we'd share any of it:

  • You've given us clear permission to
  • A court order or legal requirement leaves us no choice
  • We need to defend our rights, safety, or property
  • A vetted service provider is helping us operate, bound by a confidentiality agreement

6. Your Say in All This

You can:

  • Ask to see what data we hold on you
  • Have inaccurate details corrected
  • Delete your account and everything tied to it
  • Push back on how your data gets processed
  • Take your data with you in a portable format

7. Cookies, Briefly

We keep cookie use to the bare minimum needed to run the service securely. None of them are there for ad tracking, and you're free to adjust cookie settings through your browser.

8. Where Your Data Sits

MailCrypts servers sit in Switzerland and a handful of other jurisdictions chosen for their privacy standards. Using the service from elsewhere may mean your data crosses borders into these regions, all of which maintain solid data protection frameworks.

9. A Note on Kids

MailCrypts isn't built for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly gather data from children. If we find out we've collected information from a child by mistake, we'll remove it right away.

10. If Things Change

This policy may change from time to time. Any update gets posted here along with a new "last updated" date, so it's worth checking back occasionally.
